I can’t hold back any more! Here is the cover for my next graphic novel, Legends of Zita the Spacegirl:

Here’s the full wraparound (which you can click to enlarge):

I’m so excited to share this book with you guys! Unfortunately, it won’t be released until September 4th which seems like an eternity to me, but I noticed that you can already pre order it on Amazon. I wish I could just post the whole thing online but I’d get in huge trouble. We’ll just have to wait it out together.
Oh, and special thanks to the talented Colleen AF Venable for the cover design. The illustration is mine, the text layout, etc is her. Colleen writes comics about mystery solving rodents.

Sweet! That is a long time to wait! My boys and I love the first one - Patrick (3) loves flipping through it and explaining what is happening. They love the Flight book too :)
It's such a long time, I know! It's killing me to have this all finished and not have people reading it yet. But hopefully it will be worth the wait for Patrick.
Well, I've already bought my copy, now I have to wait till September.
I do have a question, the web comic site had a lot more adventures of Zita. Any plans of reposting those other adventures?
Awesome!
my siblings are jumping for joy, and unleashing a torrent of questions such as "is that another Zita?", and "why is that pirate lady holding a fireball?" I guess we'll have to wait and find out. :)
Will this be the end, or is it going to be a trilogy?
Hey kedamono, thanks for being an early bird. I'm sad to say that a few of the early Zita adventures are currently missing since I dropped the external drive they were stored on. I sometimes think about trying to retrieve them, but I think the art is a little ...rough.
But i do have hopes of posting some NEW short adventures online over the coming months.
Oh, and Gaelen, Zita's story will be a trilogy.
I want to tell you all about the new characters! But you'll have to wait and see...
Yea! The kids and I are so excited!

It's awesome!
Or, instead of Amazon, you could pre-order it from your local independent bookstore!
Though, that is speaking as a guy who works for an independent bookstore and has Zita sitting face-out in the Staff Picks section and can hardly wait to put Legends next to it (well, after I get one for our house, of course).
YOU ARE RIGHT! Shame on me for not suggesting that. Maybe someday I'll make it out to your independent bookstore (is it close?).
It'd be an amazing thing if you could make it out but, it's not so close unfortunately. "make it up" would make more sense than "make it out".
It's closer to Montreal than NYC, up in Essex, Vermont.
Putting aside my shiny dimes for this one! It looks incredible!
mi piacciono molto i disegni delle bambine che dormono!
Complimenti per Zita!
Great news! Love the robot Zita. I can't wait. And how many guesses do we get on who the inspiration was for the fire-wielding gypsy lass? :]
Hee hee! I admit there are certain influences in Madrigal's design...
Exciting! Congrats!!
wonderful!!!!!!!
Ha! Thanks Caroline.
Congrats, Ben. The delay is killing Henry and me, though. Here's a plug at Henry's blog, which I set up so that he can get into self-publishing his work: http://doingdang.blogspot.com/2012/01/zita-space-girl-volume-2-publication.html
Ben, about the external drive mentioned in your answer to kedamono, let me know if you want me to fix it or at least extract the files (I do this for a living). Here we are just as keen to see those stories. I'll do it for free if it means the possibility that you can post some of those stories! Just contact me via comment at uzima.blogspot.com (I'll moderate it out so it won't get published. I prefer this method over exposing my email address to the web [I realise you'll mod out this one too, but just to be on the safe side])
Oh Awesome! Tell henry thanks for posting about Legends of Zita!
Congrats on winning Cybils Award from book bloggers for Zita the Spacegirl! http://www.cybils.com/2012/02/the-2011-cybils-awards.html
Can't wait for Legends of Zita!
Oh my gosh! I've been following the Cybils, but never actually thought Zita would win! I AM SO EXCITED!
Congratulations on the Cybil! It is well deserved.
