Hey Internet Friends! Today I give you a tiny peek at what’s on my desk right now and, below that, an important announcement. First the peek:

And now the announcement:

Have you read Zita the Spacegirl and do you have feelings about the book you would like to share in audio form? Well good golly are you in luck today because Kids Comics Revolution is going to devote an entire episode to an in depth discussion on Zita the Spacegirl. And they’d love to hear from you.

Cool huh? I’m posting everything you need to know (sent to me from KCR) after the jump:

True Dad Stories

So here's a little something I haven't done in awhile -a Journal Comic!

That's right. When you're a father of four and you get "special news" about your toothbrush you just gotta power on through. Save that problem for another day. A dad's life's not a Seinfeld episode.

In other news, we finally found the elusive Pontremoli Library and in said library I came across (and checked out) an excellent graphic novel adaptation of Saint-ExupĂ©ry’s The Little Prince. It's in italian but it looks like an English version is available.

Zita on BoingBoing

A nice review of the Zita books showed up on BoingBoing this morning. I'm a fan of Cory Doctorow and so it's really exciting to me that he (and his 4-yr-old) enjoyed Zita.

Here, also is a little snippet from my sketchbook. Wherein the Little Robot encounters Faerie in the dark woods:

And if seeing this makes you think I might be poking around with a longer robot story well, ...I just ...I just don't know what to tell you. What are you doing looking at my sketchbook?!? Who ARE you?

...

Finally, The Great Jolly Zita the Spacegirl Giveaway Contest ROUND TWO is on it’s way... Keep an eye on this blog if you're interested! I think I’ll be giving away a hardcover copy and a paperback copy of Legends of Zita.

The Work I Should Be Doing

With Legends of Zita the Spacegirl a little more than two months away from it's release date, I should be working on all kinds of extras to post here, and otherwise spreading the word. And while I have been arranging for some interviews and things, mostly these days I've been immersed in writing and drawing the third Zita book. That's a good sign: that I'm enjoying the work so much that it's hard to focus on other parts of the job.

But that's not all. I've also been in touch with BAO Publishing, the Italian publisher for the Zita books. I discovered to my surprise that Zita: Ragazza dello spazio will be published this very summer. With luck I will even be able to do some signings and things here in Italy, later in the season. It's very exciting, and all the more because I had not expected it to be published here this year. Have a look at the Italian cover:

But I won't forget Legends. Look for news, art, and extras here soon. Plus, hopefully, I'll be raffling off a couple of signed-and-drawn-in copies! (so what do you guys think of that cover? It's got pink!)

Robot Comic #20 !

Well, well, well. Happy Twentieth Comic Little Robot! I never expected you to make it this far. You continue to surprise me.

I started these little comic strips on a whim. In fact, it feels like I drew the first one on something less than a whim and so far I've kind of avoided setting any goals for this character. It's been a sketchbook experiment of sorts and, rather than setting up a schedule, I decided to try to make this something I drew when I wanted to. It's not a predictable way to post web comics, but it's been enjoyable.

Anyway, I like this guy. I like poking my brain into my sketchbook and seeing what he's up to. I think the Little Robot's gonna stick around for awhile.

Also hooray for Newspaper Format!

Robot Comic #19

Did I just want to draw birds? Is that it?

Oh little Robot, you’ve almost made it to twenty comics...

Newspaper format is here.
