That last panel is pure conjecture. In reality we never did find those batteries, so House Elves is still a perfectly valid theory.

is there a difference between small children and house elves, really???
I love it that other people take pictures of their pretty bread. Check all your flashlights for those batteries. At night I think our electrical accessories get up and share their day and swap power sources.
