October Surprise

Well, it's been almost a week between updates. No, I didn't "disapparate"! I had a sudden opportunity to take Angelica on a weekend long bikeride. Two days of camping and two days of riding. Angelica and I rode on my friend Mike's extratandem bike (Mike takes his two girls on a triple bike). Angelica pedaled all day like a trooper and in two days we covered nearly 50 miles. It was great. Hopefully i'll have pictures of the adventure soon.

In the meantime, for those of you who brought up Harry Potter in the last post (you know who you are), here's a drawing I did of ol' Harry himself. Just in time for Halloween! How does he compare with how you imagine the character? I imagine he's round about his third or fourth year here.

Update: Anna found this picture of Plano Texas. Wow. Plano.

One of the projects I'm working on right now is an illustrated alphabet for Seton Home Study School. Anna was particularly happy with the illustration for "D" which I drew from a picture of Angelica sweeping.

And speaking of Anna, we celebrated her birthday over the weekend (26!) -thanks to everyone who stopped by for the bonfire! I know I had fun.

UPDATE,: Ry, brings up a good point. What does the D stand for anyway? Drudgery? Dustbin? Delicatessen? Feel free to post suggestions and alphabet verses in the combox!

Sketchbooks

I have two nice sketchbooks right now (pictured below). One was a gift from Anna, the other from my parents. Both are filling up nicely with sketches, doodles and studies.

One of the "Zani" from Commedia del Arte and some sword designs.

From the DVD cover to Cyrano de Bergerac with Gérard Depardieu

Finally, I posted a little Dancing Batman comic at the Flight Forums for anyone interested.

This Guy

Okay, could somebody tell me who these guys are? I found them at my parents house:

I think these guys go together and here's another hint: the guy on the right used to have little white wings on his helmet. Sometimes I wonder if I would be more successful if I had a winged helmet.

I've also started wondering about the mysterious Mysta-Bot...

Anna Formaggio

Anna Formaggio is an Italian illustrator who posts comments here and e-mails from time to time. She illustrates for a catholic children's magazine called Piccole Tracce (little footprints), and though she doesn't have a website of her own yet, a couple of her books are featured at Piccola Casa Editrice (Little School House).

The other day Anna sent me this picture of Angelica and Zita (and the new baby!) with St. Francis preparing the Nativity Crib:

I love it! Everything about the pictures of Zita and Angelica is remarkably accurate.

In other news: I'll post more of my own art here soon! I have, though, finally worked most of the kinks out of my Illustration Portfolio.
