Now Wednesday

Wednesday morning and things are looking a lot better. Here is a clipping from the mouse illustration I've been working on. I feel like the extension cord came out really well:

It's been good to have the watercolors out again. I'll post the full illustration one of these days soon -and maybe a little bit about the story. Stay tuned!

Only Tuesday.

Man this has been a hectic week so far. And I made the mistake yesterday of trying to compensate buy buying a Monster Energy Drink. Never again. (I tell myself that every time).

Here are some photos of some odds and ends I'm working on:

I've noticed that after linking to Steak's Saucy Site a couple of times that I have been reinitiated into his links section! I'm now listed as "Cannon Fodder" which sort of sounds like this might only be on a trial basis...

Sketches, Scratches and Wisdom

I sometimes make a lot of sketches and doodles when I'm trying to plot out an illustration. Once in a while I end up with a doodle that I am really pleased with. This quick little gestural sketch of Angelica is one of those:

And here's another picture from the Bethlehem Books series. Apparently, there's a legend that the painting known as The Black Madonna of Czestochowa was painted by St. Luke the Evangelist:

I guess in this illustration St. Luke is still thinking about how to get started on the painting...

Finally, if you're into wisdom, then you might enjoy Steak's latest tale of the Wise Old Master.

Until Next Time.

Firebreath Chronicles

My new hobby is taking over my blog! I did a little firebreathing at John Bertolini's wedding in Napa -at least I'm nicely dressed this time...

Thanks to Paul Ryan for the picture!

Also, we have a really beautiful sunflower in our garden this year.

I always thought they were called "sunflowers" because they looked like the sun, but in Italy they call this flower "girasole" because the face of the flower always turns toward the sun.

And, finally, something from "the vault" -I've been going through my old sketchbook files lately:

Back to the Drawing Board

I'm back after nearly two weeks in California.

I didn't really draw the entire time. I can't remember the last time I went that long without drawing something, and it's been hard to get back into it. Here are a couple warm up pieces I did to try to get myself back in action -a juggler and a copy from Peck's anatomy book:
